Description:
Up for your consideration is a mint DOU 44 Code German K98 Mauser chambered in 8mm. The DOU codes are one of the more scarce codes for Wartime Mauser Production. The code represents Waffenwerke Bruenn A.G in Bystrica which was regarded for high quality rifles. This gun has mostly matching numbers with the only mismatched parts being the front barrel band and buttplate. All other numbers match inlcuding Bolt, Receiver and Floorplate. Condition is fine with only a few spots of plum and great patina, but overall very good patina look with no rust or pitting. Wood is equally nice with some light sanding but still retaining very legible Waffennamts on the right side. Waffennamts on the receiver and barrel are crisp and untouched. This gun being an O block was manufactured in October of 1944 and likely saw some but not much battlefield use. Bore is good with some frost but no pitting, lockup is tight and the action works flawlessly. Whether you use this gun as a shooter or a collectible it's a true piece of history.
