Description:
Rare Winchester Model 42 skeet grade, 410 slide single barrel shotgun. Serial #59494. According to Winchester, the gun was built in 1946/1947. This gun has a full choke trap barrel and an additional skeet barrel. Both barrels have solid ribs and matching serial #’s. The skeet barrel has 2 proof stamps. On the bottom of the barrel only is stamped 53, which means the barrel was manufactured in 1953. The trap barrel, is stamped 35 which means the barrel only was built in 1935. Please note, the receiver was built in 1946/47, the skeet barrel was built in 1953, and the trap barrel was built in 1935. The gun has been shot. It’s in excellent condition. Please Note: After extensive research and discussions with other collectors, the difference in the years of the barrel manufacturing, indicate that the gun's barrel was built in 1935, and at some point, the gun was altertered to reflect the additional barrel, reblueing and wood refinishing. Therefore the gun is good shooter only.
