Description:
Spanish made, by J. Urigen in Eibar per markings. 12 ga., 27 inch barrels choked Imp and Imp. Mod. Gold inlaid name. Double triggers; English style straight stock with a long tang and with sling swivels and a silver cartouche for the owner's initials...still blank.
Very nice wood as the photos show, with minimal handling marks.
Named the Essex, probably made on contract for a seller who wanted a particular name on the shotgun; this was common for Spanish and Belgian manufacturers to do.
Not an Essex made by the American Gun Co., however, which is a common confusion, as this is definitely a Basque made shotgun.
An excellent field gun with very desirable chokes of improved and improved modified, the second one for that pheasant you missed with the first barrel.
