DESCRIPTION: Winchester Model 71 Deluxe rifle, long tang, serial # 6631 made 1936 so 2nd year production, with all correct and original features including the standard 24" barrel, 2/3 mag, checkered walnut stocks, shotgun butt with widow's peak checkered steel butt plate, sling swivels and hard rubber grip cap, correct bolt peep and ramped front sight, caliber 348 Winchester.
CONDITION: Barrel and mag tube retain 75% thinning original blue with some dings and scratches and a quarter-size loss on left side of barrel at receiver. Receiver retains 65% original thinning blue with most of the loss on the underside from carry wear. Stocks are sound with no splits or cracks, never sanded or refinished, no extra holes, but showing multiple dings, dents and abrasions. No doubt this old girl saw some time in the woods and helped harvest some meat for the table. Bolt peep is missing the fold-out aperture. Front sight has been changed in favor of a taller sight to help with lowering elevation. Rear sight has the correct blank and by the lack of wear on the top of the barrel, it never had a rear sight. Excellent bore, a 9 of 10, showing only very light wear, no pitting. Action is strong and crisp with a properly working half cock safety. Be sure to have a gunsmith check it over before firing.
