Colt 1851 .36 percussion revolver. 7 ½” barrel made in 1862 this revolver could very well have seen action and/or been carried in the Civil War. This revolver is mechanically excellent with crisp cylinder indexing, strong springs, good/crisp trigger pull and “clean” screw heads. The bore is good to poor..rifling is strong and very evident but there is also quite a bit of shallow pitting. Cosmetically the barrel looks like it was lightly polished and then perhaps rubbed with cold blue. The cylinder scene is faded and there is some surface pitting. The grips have good varnish but there is an old repair where a piece was chipped and glued cleanly back in place. So this is a representative 1851 that is 157 years old that is very shoot able and a nice addition to your collection.
