Description:
This is a nice postwar copy of the M1A1 paratrooper carbine used by the famous 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions during World War 2. The M1A1 featured a folding stock with a small leather cheek rest rather than the conventional wooden stock found on the standard M1 Carbine. This made the rifle more compact when folded (25.5 inches long) allowing for easier carry and certainly easier to jump with out of a plane! Plainfield produced copies of the M1 and M1A1 from 1962 until 1978. The original Plainfield Paratrooper had a foregrip and a telescoping butt. This example has a more accurate M1A1 paratrooper stock added.  The M1 Carbine has become popular over the years with collectors and the original WW2 examples have become quite pricey over the years, especially paratrooper carbines. Postwar examples offer a nice alternative for buyers and are just as accurate. This example had a few spots of rust which have been cleaned at this point. These are shown in the pictures. The bore is in superb shape. The 30-round magazine locks the bolt back after the last round is fired as it should. The stock has minor wear on the left side. There is some rust on the metal parts of the sling, but it is a reproduction. This M1A1 comes with two 30-round magazines.
