#4975 Colt S/A, 7-1/2”x38WCF, 166XXX range (1896), VG-Fine bore, about a 7-8 on a scale of 10 with just minor lead build-up and some minor wear, but no bad spots. Fine tight smooth action with all the clicks on the hammer and a crisp lock-up. The smooth metal is very fine with no appreciable pitting except for a few small patches on the ejector housing. Fine markings and still retains some faint traces of soft blue on the more protected areas and thin grey-brown over most of the surface. Very desirable “Eagle” hard rubber grips, which, while being a bit past the end of their standard issueance, can still be correct for this serial range, with about 30% wear and overall and having a very handsome appearance. A very, VERY decent long-barreled Colt in a great shooters caliber (being better ballistics than its 44cal big brother).
