This is a beautfiul all-original .22 caliber Colt Trooper manufactured in 1955. We seldom encounter these 1st model .22 caliber Troopers in any condition, much less as nice and clean as this one. It has obviously lived a very easy life since leaving the factory, and has been very well cared for. Colt introduced the Trooper in 1953 and offered it with a 4" inch or 6" inch barrel, as well as offering it in .22 rimfire (4" inch barrel only), .38 Special, and .357 Magnum. The production run for this first model ran until 1969, with the vast majority of the guns produced chambered in .38 Special and .357 Magnum. The Trooper quickly earned a reputation for being very well-made, reliable, and accurate, and was certainly a favorite for law enforcement officers in the .357 Magnum cartridge. This particular .22 caliber example retains 95% of the original factory blue finish on both the gloss and matte surfaces. The 4" inch barrel has a mint bore, and the 6 cylinder bores are excellent as well. The original full-checkered American Walnut grips are beautiful and in excellent condition. Both sides are free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major dings/wear, and both sides are perfectly fit and tight to the gun. The action on this Trooper is in perfect time, and when worked by hand both the double and single action operation is smooth and precise. This Colt should perform flawlessy if the new owner chooses to fire it.
