Beautiful U.S. Springfield Model 1863 Type II .58 caliber rifle. Does not get any better than this! Barrel, barrel band, trigger guard and butt place are in factory armory bright. Lock plate is dated 1864, behind the hammer. Beautiful eagle in front of hammer and over “Springfield”. Lock plate and hammer has 98% original case hardening. Stock is excellent with sharp cartouches, minimal handling wear noted. One of the most beautiful Civil War era long arms we have seen in a long time!
