U.S. Springfield Model 1863 Type I Musket. Metal has dark gray patina with surface pitting by the nipple and rear sight. Musket is in untouched condition. Lock plate is dated 1864. Stock shows handling and usage wear. These muskets were used heavily during the Civil War.
