Beautiful U.S. Springfield 1st Allin Conversion Trapdoor .58 RF caliber rifle. Only 5000 1st Allin conversion were manufactured at Springfield Armory. Metal has original armory bright finish. Lock has been cleaned at some point. Stock appears to have been sanded, minor storage wear noted. Crack is noted by the rear sight to front of lock plate. Great piece of breech loading history by Springfield Armory, post-Civil War.
