Description:
This is a high-quality sporting rifle based upon the post-war, commercial FN 98 Mauser action with a 24-inch barrel in .270 Winchester. It also features both a three-leaf folding rear sight mounted on raised, milled rib, as well as a 6-power Hensoldt scope on top. Functioning double set triggers compliment the overall design. The bolt and follower are engine-turned.

The stock is a high-quality custom European Walnut with fancy checkering bordered in carved oak leaves. It is also inlaid with ivory and hardwood diamonds with ebony forend cap and pistol grip cap. The floor plate and trigger guard are nicely engraved and silver inlaid in high relief showing a great stag & doe. The initials WW are silver inlaid into the trigger guard.

The condition is very good to near fine as refinished metal at time of construction. The action is tight and the bore is good. The cheek piece is on the right side for a left-handed shooter using a right hand bolt but, like most German guns, it will work for a shooter of either handedness. This is a quality rifle of the type made in the '40s or '50s. Famed gunsmiths Dietrich Apel and Paul Jaeger were riflemakers during this time.
