For Sale: This Colt was produced in 1924. The pistol's serial number is C136041. This is the last year of the Colt 1911 pistols. After 1924 the Colts were known as the 1911 A1 series. Colt produced 4999 1911's in 1924 with a special run for the military of 10,000 pistols that had not been done since 1919. 1925 was the start of the 1911 A1s for the civilian and military. This Colt has the 1911 style appearance and looks. The original grips are fully checkered. These grips are in fine condition with some flattening of various points. The barrel shows very little wear. the barrel lands are sharp and bright. All of the parts are original to this pistol. This is a highly sought after Colt for the collector. To find one of these transition model Colts in this condition is a real prize! MORE INFO: The pistol was obtained with a poor finish. It was sent to Fogle's Gunsmithing in Mansfield, OH for a complete refinish. Flat MSH and frame with no cutouts behind trigger. Period correct magazine with pinned floor plate. Simple and honest layaway plans are available.
