Description:
This World War 2 German Paratrooper's Gravity Knife is fresh out of the woodwork, bought directly from the veteran's family whom brought it back to the States.  It was made by the SMF firm in Solingen Germany and is nicely maker marked on the left side of the blade.  We were told by the family that it was captured at some point during the Battle of the Bulge.  This gravity knife is all-original and has not been altered, modified, or "improved" in any way.  All of the parts are original and the numbered parts are matching factory stamped "69".  The knot spike is stamped with the Luftwaffe acceptance proof "Eagle L 5".  As you can see from the pictures, this Paratrooper knife is in very good condition overall, showing only some handling marks and wear consistent with an issued and combat-used piece.  The blade shows that it has been sharpened but is fully intact with the original tip and free from any chips, cracks, or bends.  The original smooth Walnut grips are in good original condition, showing only light wear consistent with the rest of the knife.  Both grip panels are tight to the knife with the original steel pins/rivets intact.  All of the functions are in perfect working order, with the original springs still providing the proper tension to both the blade release button and knot spike (locks open and closed nicely).  The lanyard ring is in perfect shape and moves nicely with no slop in it.  If you have been looking for a 100% original Nazi Paratrooper knife for your collection, here is your chance to get one that has never been on the collector's market previously and is just the way it was when it was captured.
