Circa 1870s REMINGTON Vest DERINGER .22 Pistol
With Tiny Homemade Holster!
Here we present an antique Remington Saw Handle Deringer (also known as the Vest Pocket Pistol), made from 1865-1888. This is an example of the .22 rimfire cartridge Vest Pocket. Invented by William H. Elliot, only about 17,000 of these guns were made in total over the 23 years production run. This single shot pistol is very simple in mechanics. Place the hammer in the most rearward position, and load a cartridge. The hammer also acts as the loading gate and breach block.
The overall condition is fine. 95% of the nickel finish remains with clear markings. The grips are in good shape. The bore is dark with strong rifling. The action is excellent. Here is a neat little pistol with a unique homespun holster!
