The Barrel Date is 9-42. The barrel is by Underwood. The National Postal Meter has never been serial numbered. This gun has all of the very early parts for the National Postal Meter carbines. This "Shop Gun" Was used as a Presentation gift to a Employee after the war. It is fitted with a very fancy military style stock that was not cut out for a sling slot. The wood hand guard is coded IN. The type one barrel band also has no sling mount. The bore is bright showing little use or wear. The blued bolt also shows very little wear. The trigger housing is coded N. The Magazine is coded UN. All of these parts are correctly marked for the early production guns. The original dog leg hammer is coded with a electric pen! The Original Trigger is gold washed. These "shop" guns were not serial numbered as they were not to be used for the military. These guns were for the inside shop to check out fitting and assembly as a example. These "shop" guns very seldom come up! This is a great example of National Postal Meter's early production styles!. This is a very stunning gun with the fancy wood and gold washed trigger! This carbine belongs in a advanced carbine collection to help study the evolution of these fascinating carbines!
