Description:
This Winchester was produced around October or November of 1942. The carbine's serial number is 1016020. All of the parts are Winchester. However, these Winchester parts are mixed. Some are correct for this time period others are from latter time periods. The Winchester "I" stock has had the "high wood" part cut out. The stock has a crack by the recoil shield. The Winchester barrel is un dated. The barrel is in very fine condition with the original finish and great bore! The barrel has never had a type three barrel band with the bayonet lug installed. The early receiver is in very fine condition with the original finish intact. The trigger guard group is all Winchester from a latter series production. The bolt is a correct early style bolt. The operating rod is the correct early rod. The type 1 barrel band is correct. This Winchester would make a great restoration project! Especially as the receiver is in original condition in the early 16 thousand range! There are also some original parts with this gun in original finish that would be great with that restoration project! A completed Winchester in this early range would be a valuable find!
