CLASSIC 1873 .44-40 SADDLE RING CARBINE, #169XXX, MADE 1884. If ever there was a quintessential Western Frontier carbine, this is it! Nice, uncleaned and unfooled with example. Deep plum/brown overall with the receiver being slightly more plum than the barrel and magazine. Correct carbine ladder rear sight is stamped “1873” and has the slide intact. Fine Winchester barrel markings. Mellow, unpolished brass lifter has a few minor dings, Particularly excellent walnut stock and forend with fine wood to metal fit. Fine action, bore is a little dark with strong rifling all the way through with some light roughness, original dust cover intact. Really attractive appearance. This one came out of Arizona.
