This Colt 38 Long was produced in 1891. The pistol's serial number is 83890. It has a factory letter that states that this Colt was shipped to E. C. Meacham Arms Co. Of Saint Louis, Missouri In 1891. This store keepers model has the 3 1/2 inch barrel without the ejector housing. This Colt has the factory full nickle finish. The original hard rubber grips are in very fine condition with no damage or cracks. This pistol is in perfect working order. The original nickle finish is in about 80% condition. The bore is in good shootable condition. The backstrap has period engraving of a person's name, W. F. Thayer with a arrow at each end of the person's name. The screws are in very fine condition with no burring from poor screwdrivers. This Colt shows honest use and wear but no abuse. A really nice collectable 1877 model!
