Description:
Civil War, martially marked Smith Carbine, .50 caliber, 21-5/8” barrel, percussion rifled carbine produced 1861 - 1864. It is serial range 88xx. These were issued to Union Calvary Regiments.
This particular Smith Carbine is completely matching and is in excellent condition. It has most of its factory blue and very fine case colors. The metal is nice with no pitting, has sharp edges and markings, and a very fine bore. The stock fit to metal is excellent with a clear inspector cartouche behind the saddle ring. It also has all sub-inspector marks and a very tight action. Overall this is a much better than average Smith Carbine.
Note: I am not a great photographer and pictures look a little washed out.
