Description:
Custom 416 Taylor
The 416 Taylor is a wildcat, a 338 Win. Mag. opened up to .416
Or a .458 Win. necked down to .416. Nearly identical to the ballistics
of the 416 Rigby or 416 Remington, but in a standard (30-06) length action.
2,350 feet per second with 400 gr. Bullet, 4858 ft lb energy

This rifle was built to order in 2005 by members of the American Custom Gun-makers Guild. (AGCC ).
The wood is beautiful Russian Circassian Walnut, cut in Russia in the 1940’s
Purchased from a New York wood with original Russian markings in 1992
The wood was laid out and panagraphed by Jim Bisio, , Heritage-Walnut
in Colorado Springs. This work was done on a Dakota panagraph.
Jim is an inducted member of the  American Custom Gunmakers Guild.
The wood was fit , and finished with a hand rubbed oil finish, and point pattern
checkered by Jeff Tapp, (Tapp Guns) of Austin Texas,
Jeff is also an inducted member of the American Custom Gun-makers Guild, and a Board Member of thatanization.
The metal work , barrel and action and blue, was done by the late Dr. Dennis Morgan, Denver, CO. Dennis was a dentist and well-known gunsmith in Denver
A second recoil lug was welded to the bottom of the barrel, forward of
the recoil lug on the action. The action and both lugs were glassed into
the stock to strengthen overall stability and to in improve accuracy. The action fits very
tightly into the stock.  The action is a Safari M98 from Global Trading, purchased new in 2004, a Mauser design,
S/N GLO-0146. The gun weighes 9 pounds without scope, barrel is 23 inches in length and has a single flip up leaf with hooded front sight, and installed rings and base.
Accuracy is near 1 minute with 300 gr. Barnes triple shock.
The rifle was made for an African Safari, but did not make that trip,  and was eventually used on two Colorado Elk hunts. Some light field scratches exist on the stock from those two trips. Blue is 99%, stock is 95%. The rifle has remained in our family since it was made and has been stored in a safe and not been fired for 10-11 years.
