Description:
Sold and advertised in the early 1960's thru the early 1970's as the "World's Smallest Real Derringer", the Erl Svendsen Little Ace is certainly a neat little oddity.  It was patterned after the antique Ethan Allen "Garter Gun" of the 1800's.  With an overall length of just under 4" inches with a 2" inch barrel, the Little Ace was chambered for the .22 Short standard velocity cartridge only.  Very simple in design, this single-shot derringer's barrel swings open to the side with the hammer on half-cock for loading or un-loading.  A ball-detent holds the barrel in the ready-to-fire position with the hammer at half or full-cock, and a spur-style trigger releases the hammer.  The Little Ace is constructed of a blued steel barrel, a bronze frame, and black plastic grips.  This example is serial number 5369 and was contructed in the early 1960's prior to the firm moving to Texas.  It is in very good to excellent condition, with 95% of the factory blue finish remaining on the barrel.  All of the factory stamings are clear and crisp.  The bore is excellent and free from imperfections.  The bronze frame has a nice aged patina showing and hasn't been excessively cleaned.  The black plastic grips are in excellent condition and free from any cracks, chips, or repairs.  Both sides are tight to the gun with no wiggle.  This Little Ace is in perfect working order.  If you have been looking for an interesting addition to your collection that also a conversation starter, this Little Ace Derringer would be a great choice.
