Here we present an antique Ethan Allen & Co. Sidehammer Revolver, made circa 1865 in Worcester, Massachusetts. Ethan Allen & Co. was composed of Allen and his two sons-in-law Sullivan Forehand and Henry Wadsworth who reorganized the company as Forehand & Wadsworth upon Allen's death in 1871. There were 8 different variants of this revolver and approximately 1,500 total made of these little .22 Rimfire Sidehammers between 1858-1865, making this a very scarce little revolver. The left side of the barrel is marked “ETHAN ALLEN & Co. WORCESTER. MASS./ALLEN’S PAT’S. SEPT. 7. NOV. 9. 1858. SEPT. 24, 1861” The overall condition is very good. The iron parts have a gray patina. The markings are clear. The grips are in great shape. The bore is in good condition with visible rifling. The action is excellent. Here is a smart little revolver from the early to mid-1860s!
