Description:
This item is a Colt Dragoon 44 Cal. Precussion Pistol. Although the gun has most of the proper markings and components, there is significant enough variation to cause doubt as to the authentisity of the item. Of note is lthe apparently restamped serial numbers on the barell, frame and trigger guard. Although the numbers match they are not uniform in impression or alighment. The number on the cylinder does not match even though this is a somewhat common occurance with this type of firearm. The cylinder itself appears to be of correct type and era.
The lock wedge will not allow the gun to function properly and so has been replaced with a new item. The original wedge is included.
With the newer wedge in place the gun functions properly and smoothly. The bore is clean without significant pitting. The gun functions properly with some intermitment mis-alignment on two cylinders.
This gun is offered with no guanantee of authentisity by the seller. The seller does not consider himself quallified to properly evaluate this gun. However even if the gun is not correct and proper it offers significant value as a collector item for the individual that does not wish to invest the $50K that a fully veted gun of this type would cost.
