This is one of a few Colt Government Model pistols elegantly converted to SA / DA by the late L.W. Seecamp in early 1970s. The pistol has a mostly conventional appearance, with an excellent satin nickel finish, and distinctive Seecamp trigger assembly, and “LWS" marked, reshaped and knurled trigger guard. The double action bar is covered by an added, contoured metal plate on the right side of the frame, finished to match the rest of the pistol. Pachmayr wrap-around neoprene grips, and a single, original Colt magazine complete the pistol. These ingenious conversions were the brainchild of Louis W. Seecamp, better known for his Seecamp .32 auto pistol, and turns the Colt Government Model into an effective DA pistol, able to be carried with a round in the chamber and off safe, by adding a new trigger that both actuates a cocking lever along the right side, and impinges on the original SA trigger which has been reduced in size, but is still present and functional. There were very few of these interesting and well-made pistols ever built, although they seem to have found favor with federal law enforcement agents, and conversions on Commander size pistols are even rarer. This example is in excellent condition, and would make a great addition to any collection.
