Description:
Serial #36699, .36 Caliber, 7 1/2" barrel with a very good, lightly pitted bore. This is an 1854 manufactured, third type revolver that has all-matching numbers, including the wedge and cylinder arbor, with the metal retaining 80-85% of an old, added nickel finish that has “frosted" over the years into a dull pewter gray patina with some brighter metal on protected areas. The cylinder scene is no longer visible, and the safety pins have been flattened. Dark, plum-brown metal is present where the nickel has flaked in areas all along the frame, barrel, and loading lever. The walnut grip is in fine condition with much of the original piano varnish remaining, and numerous small handling marks scattered about. The lock-up is exceptionally tight and the mechanism functions flawlessly. This is a really nice, period refinished Model 1851 Navy that rates very good overall condition. Antique
