Description: Hammerless Sidelocks - What a wonderful little 28g! I do not believe we have ever had a vintage 28 with 30" barrels in the history of our shop until this little gem came through our doors. Featuring great dimensions and true back action locks this petite flower is in excellent condition retaining 80% case color or better. Henry Tolley is thought to be the younger brother of the more famous J&W Tolley\'s. He was in business in Birmingham from 1877 to 1892. He not only was a gun maker but was a gun designer/ inventor. One of his several and most successful patents was "The Times" gun. This gun was among the first hammerless sidelocks introduced in England of which our gun is an example. An interesting history of Henry Tolley can be found on page 104 and 105 in Douglas Tate\'s fabulous book "Birmingham Gunmakers." *** Note: To see this gun with high resolution photos and a zoom-in feature, go to the vintagedoubles main site and search for the gun ID: 4026 or browse the main site to see our full gun collection. |
