Description:
RARE, early Indian wars, (1878) Colt single action revolver with a condemned J.T.C. inspected barrel and cylinder, shipped to H&D Folsom Arms Co. in 1878. This is a very nice and crisp old Colt. The barrel has the J.T.C. inspectors initials along with the "P" proof marking and a large "C" above it for failing to pass final inspection of the strict government standards of the time period. (see pics) The cylinder has the J.T.C. inspector initials as well, and does not show the large "C" for being condemned. The gun was then shipped as a civilian revolver after not passing the strict government standards for use by the U.S.cavalry at the time. The gun is completely original and unfooled with, all serial #'s match, including the barrel and cylinder. The grips are original to this revolver, as well. All the markings are clear and correct. The mechanics are good, and the bore is near excellent, with distinct rifling visible. Reference can be made on pg. 276 of the book,  "A  Study of the Colt Single Action Revolver" by Graham, Kopec, and Moore. Rare variation, of an early Colt black powder revolver!! Comes with factory archive letter. Please ask questions if desired. NO FFL required, unless the state you live in requires one for transfer, NY,NJ, etc.. Shipping is $35.00 which includes insurance to the lower 48 states.
