Description: This is a handsome, eagle head sword that measures 33 5/8" overall with a 28 1/2" curved, single-edged blade having wide single fullers and half-length etched panels. The steel has an overall pewter gray patina, and the forte is etched with typical designs and motifs including floral sprays, martial panoply on the obverse, and American Eagle with “E Pluribus Unum" riband on the darkly freckled reverse. The hilt has a single forward-swept quillon, beaded stirrup knucklebow, carved, fluted bone grip with a linear crack, and high relief cast eagle head with hidden capstan rivet. The hilt brass has turned to an ochre-brown patina throughout. The leather and brass scabbard has darkly tarnished metal fittings, and the leather is heavily worn with a large tear at just above the chape. This is an attractive sword that is in about good condition overall SOLD Manufacturer: U.S. Military Model: Sword |
