These interesting items were used for bayonet training, and were made by various contractors like Greener, Westley Richards, and Webley & Scott. This example is marked and dated on the underside: “WEBLEY & SCOTT LTD. / BIRMINGHAM 1942". The metal has an overall plum-brown patina with mild surface freckling throughout, and some brighter gray metal in spots. Small portions of original Suncorite are still present on the top tang. The walnut stock and forend are in fine shape with numerous small handling marks and blemishes in the old varnish finish, and legible markings on the right side of the butt. This is a hard to find item for the British or military collector, and would make a great display piece. SOLD Manufacturer: Webley Model: Fencing Musket |
