Winchester 1897 U.S. Trench Gun 12 Ga shotgun. WWI Trench Gun made in 1918. 20” cylinder bore barrel correct type “W” handguard / Bayonet adapter and is marked “Pat. Appl. For”. Metal has approximately 90% original finish with light pitting. Correct factory buttplate. Barrel and receiver have no martial markings; which not all trench guns were martially marked (see Bruce Canfield’s Combat Shotguns page 51 – 53). This is a good example of a WWI Trench Gun. Comes with a WWII sling.
