Description:
SOLD Late ACGG professional member Larry Brace created many fine gun stocks during his much too short career. This is one of the finest rifles among that collection. The basis of the project is a Ruger M77 30-06 barrelled action with the original Ruger front and rear sight ramps and the early tang safety. Larry substituted one of the Ruger steel trigger guard/floor plate assemblies for the original aluminum one on this rifle. Then he rust blued all the metalwork. Finally Larry checkered the bolt knob with two tear drop panels of fine diamonds.
The stock is crafted from a fine piece of California English walnut in Larry's version of the American Classic design. He used a Jerry Fisher steel grip cap, ebony forend tip, Pachmayer 1" Old English recoil pad, and one of his own models of inletted sling swivel studs. Typical of Larry's work, all edges are sharp with crisp detail edges around the shadow-line cheekpiece and the bolt stop. The stock finish is that flawless pore-filled Pro-Custom for which Larry was famous. The 24 line-per-inch checkering is Larry's version of the classic point pattern with perfect diamonds and crisp border lines at each point.
Although the rifle has seen very little use as witnessed by the minor handling marks, it is crying out to be taken afield as Larry intended.
