Description:
This one is literally stunning. An original buffalo rifle in very high condition. Remington Hepburn No. 3, chambered in 45-70. What I couldn't picture is that this beauty has a MINT BORE. Low serial number of 4003. Barrel is original and matching as well. I would say approx 75-80% blue on the barrel and 80-85% (or better) original color case on the frame. The original wood is in excellent condition as well. There appears to be a semi-circle crack approx 1/4" coming off of the rear of the top tang. No way to picture it. It may only be in the finish. Fore end is excellent, undamaged, correct and original as well. It had certainly never been removed before I did. The blue underneath is perfect, I wiped it clean with a silicone rag. Barrel is marked 45-70 on the botton flat forward of the fore end tip. Left side of the frame is stamped "Hepburns Pat over Oct 7th 1879". Barrel stamps on top flat are "E.Remington &Sons.Ilion.N.Y." Buttplate is mostly silver with traces of case color towards the top. Tons of fire blue on the hammer and trigger. Screws are mostly untouched. Fully functional- you have no idea how much I would love to keep this myself. $75 shipping to the lower 48, 3% surcharge for using a CC.
