Description:
The Model 1883 Hammerless Double Barrel Shotgun was made from 1883 to 1895, with approximately 7,360 manufactured.  The double barrel shotguns were usually custom made and fitted with damascus barrels from 28 to 32 inches in length.  Per the Blue Book of Gun Values regarding the Model 1883:  "This model was generally a custom order gun with no standard grades designated.  Quality was extremely high, and the cost of manufacture is a large reason why the gun never sold in large numbers commercially.  The Model 1883 was discontinued after only 12 years of manufacture (it was one of the most expesive shotgunns during its day)".  This 1883 is fitted with 30 inch damascus barrels, double triggers, finely checkered Walnut forearm with ebony tip, finely checkered and nicely figured Walnut stock fitted with a black hard rubber butt-plate, extensive engraving on the receiver, safety button, break-down lever, trigger guard, forearm takedown lever and framing, and a small portion of the barrel, color case-hardened receiver, and a dolls head rib extension.  What really sets this gun apart is the gold plaque on the side of the stock which states this gun was presented to a Augustus W. Mott by C.H. Colt (Samuel Colt's son) on March 9th 1889.  There is also an initial medallion on the bottom of the stock with the engraved initials A.W.M..  Included is the factory letter stating this gun was shipped to C.H. Colt on April 10, 1889.  A truly one of a kind Colt firearm that is in excellent original condition.              PRICE:   $15,950    We are Antique & Modern Firearms in Lexington, KY, dealer of fine firearms since 1974.   PH. 859-276-1419         We Buy, Sell and Trade Firearms & Knives.    Have a Individual FirearmFirearms Collection, or Firearms Estate to sell, let us know, we can buy or consignment sell it for you.       (sales at am-firearms)
