WINCHESTER MODEL 1892 STYLE EL TIGRE .44-40 SADDLE RING CARBINE BY GARATE, ANITUA & CO., SPAIN WITH EXTRA LEVER, CIRCA 1915-38. Almost exact copy of Winchester 1892 made in Eibar for civilian and garda use and also used during the Spanish Civil War. Many have come out of South America as many exported there. This particular one has the factory blue fading at its edges with excellent screws. Original factory sights and factory wood with original finish with period of use scratches and small dings. Perfect inletting. Front band has integral hole for sling swivel and same at buttstock. Markings crisp on side of frame with "Tigre" trademark and tang address where "Winchester Model 1892" would normally be. Top of barrel with "Garate, Antitua Y Cia Eibar, Espana" and 'Cal 44 L" crisp. Original steel buttplate with cleaning rod trap correct. A large "Rooster Cogburn" large ring lever as been added(with slam fire screw for rapid firing) but original lever is with carbine as well. Bright bore but rifling shallow(no pits).
