16 LB. HEAVY Octagonal Barreled Antique LONG RIFLE
With Neat Adjustable Peep Sight!
Here we present an antique Half-Stock, Heavy Barreled Precision Long Rifle with a Warranted lock, made circa the 1840s. This rifle would have been used to hunt medium sized game such as deer or putting on a shooting match. This rifle features a heavy octagonal barrel in .41 caliber, large enough to take big game or a man. There is a blade front sight and a custom rear peep that is mounted to the barrel and very adjustable. There is a plain open rear sight mounted midway down the barrel. This rifle also comes equipped with double set triggers for a light and crisp trigger break.
The overall condition is good. The iron parts have a gray-brown patina. The markings are clear. The stock has been repaired at the toe and the repaired injury appears to have caused the loss of the butt plate. There is a stable crack on the left stock flat, and a bit of slivering just forward of the lock and just behind the fore end cap of the right side. The bore is in very good condition with sharp rifling. The double set trigger is not currently functional.
