Description:
Outstanding example of the doubly scarce "transition" era Model 70 in .220 Swift Caliber. I have seen very few Swifts produced during this period and this one is great! S/N 70*** with matching scribed bolt made in 1947. During my usual detailed inspection I noticed that many components of this rifle are from Pre War inventory including the stock, most small parts and probably the barrel (1945). Condition is superb for its age with only light use marks throughout. About 97% Blue and Varnish overall. The barrel is 26" with very good bore and no obvious throat erosion or other issues. Rear sight is a scalloped base Lyman 48 WJS with a Stith filler in barrel bulge dovetail. Mechanics are perfect. A great rifle in a hard to find configuration/caliber.
