Description:
A fabulous factory engraved and inscribed Colt SAA. The factory inscription is to a New Mexico Ranger, from the citizens of Las Vegas, NM. This beautiful single action is factory silver plated with carved Ox Head pearl grips. Its .45 caliber with 5 ½" barrel in excellent overall condition. It shows about 98% of its silver finish with a crisp action and excellent bore. The factory letter states "Presented to A.A. Sena by the Citizens of Las Vegas N.M. April 1911". Apolonio A. Sena was a New Mexico Mounted Policeman in the territory and was instrumental in the pursuit and capture of kidnappers, which ultimately led to the presentation of this gun. Three identical guns were presented to three different lawmen involved in this endeavor. The "Colt Special Order Ledger", dated May 5, 1911 calls out these three guns, by serial numbers, to be engraved and inscribed – copy included. Very few Colt SAA's were factory inscribed. Besides being beautiful and in excellent condition, this gun comes with unquestionable provenance and all the documentation. Copies of all the newspaper articles from the "Weekly Optic and Live Stock Growers" of Las Vegas, NM are included, documenting the kidnapping, pursuit and capture of the perpetrators. A copy of "New Mexico's Rangers" and "Fullerton's Rangers" by Chuck Hornung are included. The books mention A. A. Sena's career and photos of him as well. Also included is copy of "The Rampant Colt", spring 2012 that has the complete story of the kidnapping and the presentation of the guns and two of the guns being re-united in Las Vegas, NM a hundred years later, to the month, of the original presentation. The story is "Together Again 100 Years Later" by Clark Linss (myself) and Dr. Edwin Robison, III. A rare opportunity to acquire a historically significant lawman's presentation Colt with unquestionable provenance. Please inquire for additional information.
