Description:
This is a Star Model BM 9mm Luger pistol with the original box, owner's manual, and cleaning rod. Built from 1972 to 1992 by Star in Eibar, Spain, the BM Model is a single-action semi-automatic 9mm pistol with an 8-round detachable magazine that closely resembles the Colt 1911 in a smaller size. It has a 4" inch barrel, fixed sights, and checkered black plastic grips. The Star Model BM quickly earned a reputation for being a well made pistol that was both very reliable and accurate. During the production run there were approximately 217,000 Model BM's manufactured. The earlier production guns exhibit a higher degree of polish and fit and finish than later production, and are therefore more desirable with collectors and shooters alike. This particular example was made in 1978 and is 100% original. It has the desirable high-polish finish and appears to have lived a very easy life. The factory blue finish rates 92 to 93%, with the deductions coming from finish wear on the rear grip strap and some high edge wear towards the front of the slide and frame. As you can see from the pictures, this is a very good looking pistol and the light finish wear does not detract much from the overall look of the gun. The bore in this BM is excellent, free from any pitting, erosion, or imperfections. The rifling is still strong and sharp and the bore is bright throughout. The original factory grips are in excellent condition, free from any wear, cracks, chips, or repairs. Both sides are perfectly fit and tight to the frame. All of the controls on this Star are in perfect working order, and the action on this pistol is excellent with a great slide-to-frame fit. All of the internals on this BM are clean and in excellent condition, consistent with a pistol that has been shot very little. As mentioned before, this Star comes with the original plastic case/box that it shipped in complete with the original serial numbered end-label, owner's manual, and factory cleaning rod. This pistol comes with one factory 8-round magazine in excellent condition. If you have been looking for a nice compact 9mm in a very similar configuration to a 1911, this vintage Star Model BM would be an excellent choice. This pistol would be an excellent addition to any collection as both a shooter and investment, as these high-polish Star's do not appear for sale too often in this condition.
