Description:

Pettingill Army model .44 Caliber Percussion revolver. Made approximately early 1860’s manufactured for Pettingill by Rogers Spencer and Co. Bore is excellent, bright with no pits. U.S ordnance department ordered 2000, for issue to various units such as 3rd Michigan Calvary (500 revolvers), the 3rd and 5th Missouri Militaria, 1st Arkansas, 3rd Illinois and 3rd Kentucky. This revolver was U.S Military Issued. Cylinder is Stamped by inspector “PPS”, barrel is inspected “WP” with “WP” Inspector on frame also. Faint but easily visible cartouches on both grips. This is a very nice example of a limited U.S contract for the civil war. Revolver has fine even patina with no pits or abuse. Grips show moderate wear from handling.
