This very attractive Springfield M1 Garand is an early 1940-production gas trap receiver model fitted with like-new 7-64 stamped Springfield barrel and a replacement stock by the U.S. Military's Tooele Army Depot in Utah in the 1960's. These Tooele rebuilds are scarce, and even more so when on an original gas trap M1 Garand. As you can see from the pictures, the arsenal parkerizing is very handsome and in excellent condition, showing only some very minor wear and handling marks. When the rifle is out of the stock you can see the Tooele rework markings on the right side of the receiver, "T E" over the date "1-65" (pictured). The arsenal replacement stock set on this Springfield is also in excellent condition, free from any cracks, chips, or repairs. All of the stock pieces are near perfect matches in color and show only some minor handling marks. All of the stock hardware is intact and original. This M1 Garand would make a great shooter with a like-new bore (gauged throat erosion of 1 and muzzle erosion of 2.5) and a 100% perfectly functioning, tight and slick action. The sight adjustments are in perfect working order and it comes with a correct original U.S.G.I. greensling dated 1958.
