Description:
A true survivor! The Holy Grail of ALL standard production Winchester Model 70s, here's an amazing Pre War Super Grade in 30-06 caliber made back in 1940! Condition is remarkable for its nearly 80 years of circulation at about 97% overall. S/N is 26*** with matching scribed bolt. It has a mirror bore along with excellent mechanical function. There is a factory-installed Lyman 48 WJS receiver sight and a dressed Lyman 12S filler in barrel dovetail. There has never been a 22g rear sight installed on this rifle as evidenced by the lack of an elevator track on top of the barrel. This rifle remains in the exact configuration that it left the Winchester factory down to the finer details of genuine Pre War swivels with the correct concave shoulder and a full length gold bead Redfield hooded front sight. Realistically speaking, most of the "common" caliber Pre War Supers have long been stripped of their key components to artificially inflate the values of much rarer caliber rifles. To find an '06 in this configuration and condition is practically unheard of these days and is a real prize.
