Description:
Early Hartford Colt model 1851 Navy .36 caliber six-shot revolver with ivory grips, serial #91354 matching, including the barrel wedge, 1859 production. Very fine Colt Navy overall, metal is a smooth age-grey patina with underlying faded original blue. Barrel flats are sharp with clear and crisp one-line early and desirable Hartford barrel address. The bore is very good+ with sharp grooves. Cylinder scene rates .65% with clear "ENGAGED 16 MAY 1843" stamp. Remnants of a couple cylinder safety pins remaining on the back of the cylinder. Mechanics are tight. Brass is aged mellow patina. Left side of frame stamped "COLTS PATENT". Grips are beautiful period ivory, wonderful color, no chips or cracks, slight age shrinkage around straps. Many of these early Hartford marked Colt Navy's went south at the beginning of the war. This Colt Navy would make a great addition to any collection.
