Description:
26" SxS chopper-lump barrels with ramp front sight, folding twilight bead, sluing swivel, matted quarter rib with 1 standing and 1 folding platinum-lined express sights. 14 1/2" pull from articulated front trigger to leather-covered recoil pad. Black-streaked European walnut stocks with Anson-release splinter forend, steel trapdoor pistol grip cap, beaded pancake cheekpiece, silver escutcheon with Earl's coronet over monogrammed "E", and rear sling swivel. Border-engraved back-action sidelock with concealed third fastener, bushed firing pins, manual top tang safety with SAFE in gold, top tang extending over comb and bottom tang extending to grip cap. Weight: 10lbs. Built in 1930 for Josslyn Victor Hay, 22nd Earl of Erroll, whose murder in Kenya in 1941 was the subject of both book and movie. Properly restored to virtually new condition. In renovated original maker's oak & leather case with full accessories and labels. With copy of maker's order book entry.
