This is a really fine example showing about all the deep factory blue on the 26” half octagon barrel that is fitted with a buckhorn rear sight and Rocky Mountain blade front sight. Has all the correct Stevens Markings on the top of the barrel with the last patent date of 1894. The receiver shows traces of light case color, but has mainly faded to an aged mottled gray/brown patina that has not been cleaned or steel wooled. Excellent forend and fine butt stock show normal light handling/hunting wear. Very tight action and exc. bore with very strong rifling that is only a little dark, but not at all pitted. These were very accurate takedown rifles that only require removing the screw from the underside of the receiver to release the barrel/forearm from the receiver. When shooters traveled by train to their favorite hunting areas, this easy takedown was a great feature. It’s good to know that .25-20 SS cases and loading dies are now readily available.
