Most of this model was carried and used hard. The Police Positive Special along with the larger Army Special (and later Official Police Model) were the real bread and butter work-horses of the Colt line in the first half of the 20th century. While the guns are not all that uncommon, finding one in this condition is. This blued example that is now nearly 117 years old shows no use. It retains all the fire blue on the hammer back and trigger along with all the high polish early Colt blue on the frame, cylinder and barrel. Even the grip straps show excellent blue. It has all the correct markings and early stylized “C” rampant colt stamping on the left side of the frame. There is not even a cylinder drag line. Excellent hard rubber grips, bore etc. If you walked into a gun store in 1913 and asked to see a brand new Police Positive Special, this is what you’d be handed. It just needs a box.
