Serial number 15951 was made circa 1891 and only approximately 1700 D Grades were manufactured. *** The 30” Damascus barrels are topped by a raised solid rib and have shiny bores. There is mild pitting in both barrels typical of guns of that era. It will not affect the pattern and there is plenty of wall thickness. Gun has the swivel style toplever. Weighs 7lb 11oz. *** This D Grade has upgraded highly figured wood in the buttstock and a splinter forearm. It has been professionally refinished. The stock has a dimpled pistol grip cap and crisp checkering. The buttstock has a well done two-inch extension that is barely noticeable unless you look for it. The forearm shows considerable wear with several dents and worn checkering – nothing a gunsmith couldn’t easily fix. The length of pull is 14-7/8” to a checkered butt. A beautiful example of Dan Lefever’s work. *** Buyer is responsible for all shipping, insurance, and any other related charges. I give a 3-day non-firing inspection period and will only accept returns at buyer’s expense if the gun is not as described in the listing. SOLD Antique: Yes |
