Scan the internet and you will find a few DHE Parkers for sale.  They are beautifully engraved, well-appointed double guns usually having nice wood, checkering, and handling characteristics.  So, what makes one worth more than the other?  Details that contribute to value are condition, rare or unusual features, originality, all factory parts, and desirability to the present-day shooting community.  These are all strong factors in determining value.  This fine Parker, sn152827 made in 1910, is a special Parker DHE, one of only 1200 made with 32” barrels, one of only about 600 or so with factory English grip, and in really nice original condition with all factory original parts.  This gun was ordered as a Live Bird Gun with no safety.  Live bird guns usually had overbored barrels and special attention paid to the chambers and chokes so that they shot the very best patterns possible to kill pigeons in the ring or break trap targets.  The Parker letter that is included with the gun details that the gun had some repairs that happened over time, and it appears that Parker installed a safety on the gun as it is all factory correct.  THIS GUN SHIPPED WITHOUT THE SKELETON BUTT PLATE AND HAD A PAD FOR TARGET SHOOTING.  Balanced perfectly on the hinge pin and weighing only 7 1/4lbs., it would be a delight in the prairies after upland birds, or the perfect vintage sporting clays gun with the elegant, long barrels.  Built on a #2 frame, this is a robust Parker made for heavy shooting.  It was made during a time when the gunmakers were building these guns by hand and meticulously shaved metal and wood to produce a gun that had handling dynamics that are not found in modern machine-built guns.  The Titanic Steel barrels are 32” and have excellent bores, choked F/F, tight ribs with barrels that ring like church bells, minimum barrel wall thickness of 22 thousandths each barrel, 2 ¾” chambers, ivory bead, strong well timed ejectors, 99% rust blue, no pits or major marks, barrels tight on breech face and hinge like a new gun (factory records show hinge pin was replaced at some time), all ready to go for your shooting pleasures.  The action is wonderfully engraved, retains 75% factory case colors turning dark, action tight with lever right of center, very good screws, double triggers with excellent pulls, trigger guard mostly grey, just a beautiful example of the vintage American Parker engraving.  The factory English gripped butt stock has nicely figured English walnut, loaded with fiddleback, clean, sharp checkering, blank stock oval, splinter forend in the same condition, no cracks, superb wood to metal fit.  The stock was altered to our consignor’s dimensions a decade ago and are very modern shooting dimensions. This is a great investment quality firearm that will continue to grow in value as you enjoy its use.  It has strong desirability with its 32” barrels and English stock, the long barrels very desirable for the side by side shoots that are growing in popularity.  It has great dimensions, fantastic handling dynamics, and is very pleasing to the eye.  THIS IS A REALLY NICE DHE PARKER.  Don’t hesitate, as it will not last long.  Thanks for looking!
