Description:
General Specs: Krieghoff, Year 1930, 16/8x57R, 6 3/4 lbs w/o scope
Serial Number: 13983

Sempert & Krieghoff drilling made in 1930 with 21 5/8” Krupp Steel barrel in 16 gauge over 8x57R.  As you review the photos and description of this rare drilling, realize that this is the highest-grade drilling Krieghoff made before the war and this model was not produced post war.  There are other Krieghoff Neptun drillings that look similar, but they are not true sidelock guns but rather sideplated boxlock guns.  The Neptun “PRIMUS” is the premiere drilling of its day.  This gun is a full sidelock action, with the thumb cock for the rifle barrel, and the very rare feature of an easily hand-detachable, drop-out trigger group as shown in the photos.  The gun is in perfect mechanical order being a VFI CERTIFIED GUN WITH A 90 DAY MECHANICAL WARRANTY.  We stripped the entire action to the smallest part, Ultrasonic cleaned all, scrubbed the parts down to bare metal, inspect all parts for function and integrity, lubricated all and reassembled.  The barrels are tight as new on breech face and the hinge pin, bores are perfect mirrors on all three barrels with crisp, sharp rifling in the rifle bore, no dents or dings, and the top rib is tight.  The trigger pulls are crisp and the set trigger for the rifle is functioning properly.  The full coverage game scene engraving is crisp and clear, the screws are perfect, as is the wood-to-metal fit.  There is an ornate bullet cache in the belly of the buttstock that harbors 4 cartridges.  The gun is in superb factory original condition with no restorations apparent.  She weighs 6 3/4lbs. sans scope, 7 3/4lbs. with scope and balances right on the hinge pin, so this is a dynamic handling drilling.  The 8x57R (S style .323 bullet) cartridge is similar to the .30-06 cartridge ballistics with mild recoil and is known to be very accurate and appropriate for most all North American game.  The gun is choked F/F and has the original 2 ½” chambers.  We can alter the chambers and chokes if you choose.  The rifle has the original Carl Zeiss Zielvier scope with original quick detachable, see-through rings intact and the German 3 post reticle.  The scope remains clear and functional.  IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND THESE GUNS WITH THE PROPER SCOPE AND MOUNTS WHICH ADDS GREAT VALUE TO THIS FINE DRILLING.  The set is housed in a custom fit oak and leather case that is superbly crafted complete with a correct trade label and key.  This is a very rare and valuable drilling.  The engineering in the removable trigger group is extraordinary and is clearly demonstrated in the photos.  We are offering this gun at a very affordable price, especially compared to the one other example for sale at this time.  Remember, this is a true sidelock action with the removeable trigger group and is a pre-war gun.  See additional specifications below.  Thanks for looking!
