VERY FINE RICHARD FEOLA (STUDENT OF WALLACE GUSLER) CONTEMPORARY PENNSYLVANIA OR KENTUCKY FLINTLOCK RELIEF CARVED .45 CAL LONGRIFLE OR LONG RIFLE. Signed on top of barrel “R.T. Feola – 1985-1990”, obviously the time period it took him to complete rifle which is understandable considering how much effort and care was taken. Heavy relief carving throughout with ornate cheekpiece and bone inlays. One bone inlay is the escutcheon plate on top of wrist with an “F” for Feola. Richard Feola was a student of Wallace Gusler of Williamsburg fame. 36” octagonal barrel with mint bore and 8 groove rifling. Hand forged rear sight and iron and brass front half-blade with white insert sandwiched in between two iron blades(intricate). Tiger maple stock with brass hardware and brass sling swivels. Ornate hand made brass patchbox with release button on top of buttplate and brass toe plate with rear sling swivel. Touchhole with removable sleeve/insert (slotted for easy removal). Single trigger. Dimensions are more along the lines of a slightly scaled down Pa. longrifle with 50 ½” overall length, 13 5/8” length of pull weighing 7lbs so possibly for a lady or youth or just a small brush gun. Make a fun white-tail flintlock. All metal rust browned except trigger spine and frizzen spring.
